PLANNING
COURSES
Formal academic training in urban and regional planning is not available in
Singapore at the moment. Aspiring planners have to attend
universities/polytechnics abroad to pursue either a 4-year undergraduate course
or a 1 or 2 years postgraduate course. The only allied course offered locally
at the National University is a one-year full time MA(Urban Design) course.

PROFESSIONAL
PRACTICE IN SINGAPORE
About a third of
the Institute's Fellows and Members are currently employed by Singapore's
statutory boards including the National University of Singapore. Others are
employed in the private sector notably in planning consultancies, architectural
firms, property and real estate companies. In recent years, an increasing
number of our members have been called upon to provide planning consultancy
work overseas particularly in China, South East Asia and East Asia region. This
reflects the international recognition of the high level of professional
competency that Singapore planners have attained. It is testimony to the
excellent professionalism of planning practice in Singapore.
